For nearly 50 years, the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) certification has been the global benchmark for management accountants and financial professionals. Why? Because CMAs can explain the “why” behind numbers, not just the “what.”

The CMA Program has two parts that cover 12 key practice areas such as External Financial Reporting Decisions, Technology and Analytics, and Decision Analysis. The program is typically completed by those with backgrounds in finance, and accounting. CMA-certified professionals are qualified to work in senior and executive positions as cost accountants, accounting managers, and corporate controllers.

Exam Format

Dates

CMA exams are offered three times a year in Jan/Feb, May/June and Sep/October.

Format

Each part has 100 multiple choice questions and two 30-minute essay questions.

Duration

The exam is 4 hours long. 3 hours for the multiple choice questions, and 1 hour for the essay questions.
